there's no sound on this draft because it hasn't been designed yet. before you read further respond to the piece alone before reading what i've written. my writing could alter your perception:
i'm continuing to work on this. i really like the scanning vernacular brett brought into the equation as well as matt's elevator idea. i want to use the scanning idea. i'm still messing with what i want to do. i'm battling not trying to make eye candy. i want to put a narration on it in russian because the character (the model) is russian and i want to make a story out of it similar to this piece I made over 14 months ago. that aside i'm still working with the material and seeing what i can do. i want it to be narrative, not some pretty fashiony video. it's early in the stages of the making of it, i've been sorting the footage out in bins so i can piece it together to see what it looks like, similarly to modeling a design (in the architectural or industrial sense). let me know what you think. i'm open at this point but the direction i want to pursue is narrator in russian, a small story, scanning elements and elements of photography without being too overly commentary on modeling or female models in general.

i really want to hear the sound/music for this piece.
can i see the link to the designer's website, so I can get a feel for what she's going for.
i haven't created the sound yet. i'm writing to narration currently as well.
the desire to create a narrative from a commodity calls to mind an except from I lecture I attended on Saturday. the speaker was talking about antique stores valuing their items for the single fact that they are old, where buyers are more interested in purchasing a story, some tale that gives meaning to the age of the piece.
maybe we do the same with beauty, which on its own means very little (aside from an evolutionary indicator of health and survival). maybe we are buying into the contrived narratives that we think come hand in hand with such a look. perhaps we are always buying stories, if so, what does it mean to actually tell one as opposed to to letting the viewer create his or her own? i realize that you encounter these issues on a daily basis and are well versed in storytelling, but I thought the tie to commodity was worth bringing to the surface in this particular case.
